Several health and biomedical institutions in Luxembourg are organising an event dedicated to medical research for 26 October 2016 between 09:00 and 18:00 at CHL’s premises.

The Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL), Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication and the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine have come together to offer a day dedicated to medical research. The event is open to researchers, clinicians, students and the general public. Over 200 secondary school students will attend the event where they can meet professionals in the sector, ask them questions and find about research projects taking place in Luxembourg.

Medical research in Luxembourg is synonymous with international projects, leading teams, and jobs for the future. However, the public, especially young people, still know relatively little about this area. It is for this reason that the aforementioned institutions have organised this event which focuses on exchange and discovery.

The day will entail workshops and mini conferences on various themes such as research in the fields of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and Parkinson’s disease, as well as in the sector of sport or allergy detection and treatment. At the end of the day, Professor Andres Mespalu from the University of Tartu will give a conference on the topic “From biobanking to precision medicine and beyond, the Estonian experience: State of the art in the integration of routine clinical data into research/biobanks.”
