The hack.lu team is organising an Open Source Security Software Hackathon at the University of Luxembourg (SnT) in the JFK Building in Kirchberg on 2 and 3 May.

Dedicated to free/open source software, the two-day Hackathon aims to gather various developer groups to collaborate on challenging programming problems in the field of cybersecurity, from information sharing, network/system forensic, data mining challenges or even crypto-currencies.

“For 12 years, our team has organised the hack.lu security conference, which brings many security professionals together. We have observed that many people and organizations create open source software to support their security activities, ranging from reverse engineering, digital forensic, incident response (DFIR), threat analysis to network security. Many of the security tools are developed on a long-term commitment and they provide viable solutions to improve security globally. In order to support the continuity of innovation, development and integration of such open source security tools, we have decided to organize this Hackathon and bring people together”, said Alexandre Dulaunoy from Hack.lu.

Teams and individuals will be able to propose their own open source projects they wish to work on. The doors will open from 09:00 to 18:00 for the free of charge event open to all projects, developers and contributors who are part of open source projects in the security field. Among the projects already listed are MISP, CVE search, AIL and Viper, are just examples.
