The Kick Cancer Into Touch (KCIT) Family Charity Golf Day was held last Sunday at the Kikuoka Golf Club in Canach.

Objective of the day was to have fun and raise money, as simple as that; the good weather, great spirits and generous donations made this year another success for all.

This year is the 25th Anniversary of Omega Haus which runs the Hospice that KCIT supports in Luxembourg. To date KCIT has provided 2 mobility chair/ beds to improve the quality of the people’s lives in this hospice and supported the relaxation and family room as examples.

KCIT is a special sponsor for their 25th Anniversary, With sponsors and contributions have raised over €6,000; thisr support means that KCIT can help reach their objectives and keep supporting a great foundation and institute.

The putting competition, now the backbone of the day, fun yet seriously fought for the prestige of the title and the marvelous prize from the sponsor Ascot Golf with Mazagan Beach Resort, Morocco, including 3 Nights for 2 persons sharing a Partial Ocean View Room, Daily breakfast, Unlimited Golf, Airport Transfers...

The winner of the event was the club champion, Sean Nevin; from an original field of circa 120 players; it was reduced to a 6 person play off where he managed to hole out 3 times in 6 putts, ranging from 8m to 20m.

For the main competition, 147 player took to the fairway. After some close counts on the scores, the cup was handed over to the safe hands of Paul Embleton who as the overall winner holds The Des McKenna Perpetual Memorial Trophy for the next year.

KCIT have asked us to thank their sponsors and helpers: Phil McKenna from the Black Stuff is retiring and going back to Ireland (he has supported KCIT from the very first tournament), and the Hughes, Shepard, Brown, Lister and Jonathan Hill families for help from cakes to pouring the beers, The Britannia pub, AscotGolf, Gentoo financial services, KR Recruitment, Mazagan beach and golf resort Morocco, The Frogs and Redbridge recruitment.
