For the third consecutive year, 380 employees of Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH), a privately owned and managed financial services firm in Luxembbourg, managed to assemble a total of 600 shower kits for the benefit of Stëmm vun der Strooss.

Within the framework of the event “Bring your child to work” these shower kits contain – among other items - a tooth brush, soap, shampoo and conditioner, and are carefully assembled and brought together in sealed quality bags. This proceeding guaranties the hygienic properties of all the elements included and distributed for free to 300 homeless and disadvantaged people - including the unemployed, ex-convicts, asylum seekers, emigrants and those with mental disabilities and/or addicted to drugs.

Day per day, all these persons knock on the door of Stëmm vun der Strooss located at 7 rue de la Fonderie in Luxembourg-Hollerich. At the same address the association also offers them a meal for a token price of 50 cents, and makes available to them a cloakroom, a laundry room and various other services, all for free and accessible from Monday to Friday between 11:30 and 16:30.

In 2016 Stëmm vun der Strooss served a total of 100,130 meals (71,420 in Hollerich; 28,710 in Esch-sur-Alzette). In comparison to the year before, this represents an increase of 36.7%.

This doonation illustrates only one of numerous activities realised by BBH all along the last five years for the benefit of persons in need, as BBH also mobilised to raise funds and collect clothes. Furthermore, BBH shared its know-how to enable Stëmm vun der Strooss to reorganise its administrative services and analysed the annual statistics. Finally, BBH managed to assemble a group of no less than 10 volunteers for the annual Christmas celebration of the Stëmm vun der Strooss.
