23 organisations in Luxembourg have signalled their commitment to promoting and managing diversity by signing the Diversity Lëtzebuerg Charter on Thursday.

The annual signature ceremony of the Charter was held at Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains in conjunctiong with Diversity Day Lëtzebuerg 2016. A formal introduction was given by Minister of Family and Integration and sponsor of the charter, Corinne Cahen.

This was followed by a speech by Nava Hinrichs, Managing Director of the Hague Process on Refugees and Migration, who highlighted how integrating migrant or refugees into the labour market can be beneficial for the company hiring and brings a new perception of the wealth of talent among migrants. The Charter Committee also invited Riad Tafa, Syrian contractor and refugee, who built his own business and shared his experience of the world of work in Luxembourg.

This year, the signatory organisations varied widely in sectors, activities and sizes. The number of Charter signatories now stands at 170, representing 15% of Luxembourg's payroll, of which 75% are privately owned, 14% belong to the associational network and 11% form part of the public sector.
