The employment figures for Luxembourg at the end of June 2015 were released on Friday and show the rate of unemployment has remained steady at 6.9%, compared to May 2015.

The total number of people unemployed in the Grand Duchy at 30 June 2015 rose by just 106 to 16,833 on the previous month. The unemployment rate of 6.9% compares to an decrease of 532 people registered as unemployed twelve months ago, i.e. down 3.1% from an unemployment rate of 7.2%.

In June 1,544 registered with ADEM as being unemployed and looking for work, of which 522 were doing so for the first time.

The number of people benefitting from full unemployment benefit was 6,713, down 4.3% from 12 months ago. Meanwhile, the number of people benefitting from partial unemployment benefits was 5,581 at the end of June 2015, up 562 since May and up 11.2% in 12 months.

A total of 2,664 vacant job positions were declared to ADEM, the unemployment agency, during last month, up considerably (32%) over 12 months.
