On Wednesday 9 March 2016, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, the Union des entreprises luxembourgeoises (UEL) and the Agence pour le développement de l'emploi (ADEM) held a joint press conference presenting a first assessment of the collaborative initiative 'Entreprises, partenaires pour l'emploi', as well as ADEM's new online employment service JobBoard.

The main objective of the 'Entreprises, partenaires pour l'emploi' ('Businesses, Partners for Employment') programme, the agreement of which was signed between the government and the UEL a year ago, is to develop a coordinated strategy between the Union and the job search agency ADEM and help unemployed individuals in Luxembourg return to the labour market. Companies that receive the business collaboration label, the first 22 of which were awarded in November of last year, are therefore committed to hiring 12,600 jobseekers each year between 2015 and 2017.

Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Nicolas Schmit, claimed that "the initial results are encouraging since the target was even slightly exceeded. Indeed, in 2015, more than 12,700 people registered with ADEM found jobs, that is to say almost 1,800 more than last year."

"The UEL and its members remain committed to making this programme a success the fruits of whic will endure beyond the initial term to make ADEM a trusted partner of all companies in Luxembourg," added UEL chairman, Michel Wurth.

At the conference, ADEM also announced that it has strengthened its Web presence through the launch of its interactive online JobBoard. This platform aims to increase the chances of establishing a meeting between employers and job seekers, with the latter being able to fill out their profile and CV that they can download on the site. Job seeker profiles are published anonymously on the platform by ADEM.

"The JobBoard is a new element in our digitisation strategy to establish a real e-ADEM," explained Isabelle Schlesser, Director of ADEM. "This increases the transparency of the professional skills of job seekers and facilitates contact with future employers."

Access to the JobBoard was opened up to ADEM job seekers in February 2016, enabling them to directly search for employment from amongst the 4,000 jobs that are published and updated daily, as well as apply to a position that suits their experience and interest. If the offer fits well with the candidate's profile, ADEM counsellors then establish contact between the potential employee and employer.

"The JobBoard will become an essential tool, a first instinct, for employers who are looking for new employees," commented Nicolas Henckes, Secretary-General of the UEL. Companies will be able to directly search and contact the profiles that interest them, as well as build a list of candidates and create an alert for when a new application for employment becomes available.

The ADEM JobBoard is free and accessible on the new Job Portal www.adem.lu.
