Luxembourg’s Job Development Agency (ADEM) has revealed that the number of resident job-seekers has decreased by 3.1% in one year.

The number of people in the Grand Duchy looking for employment was 16,493 as of 30 September 2016, which is 533 less people that this time last year. Similarly, the unemployment rate has dropped by 0.3% compared to September 2015 to 6.4%.

The decrease is widespread and encompasses also the most vulnerable job seekers such as those with health problems (-7.8%), those over the age of 50 (-3.9%) and people who registered as looking for work less than 12 months ago (-3.8%).

On the other hand, 39 more people registered as searching for employment with 2,258 in total registering as of September this year. This increase is primarily due to people re-registering.

Additionally, during September 2016, employers declared 3,286 vacant job posts to the ADEM, which constitutes an increase of 15.9% compared to September 2015.
