On Monday evening, the British Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg (BCC) held its annual New Year Reception at the residence of the British Ambassador to Luxembourg, Alice Walpole.

Ambassador Walpole led the short speeches and said it was a delight to see friends from the British Chamber as well as new members too. She wished everyone a Happy New Year and said Goodbye as this was one of her last events as host before her departure from Luxembourg to a new posting.

Alison MacLeod, BCC Chairman, thanked Champ Cargosystems for their sponsorship for the evening, and Ambassador Walpole for hosting this event. Among the 2015 highlights she reviewed was the viewing of the Magna Carta in which the Ambassador was instrumental in facilitating. She remarked that the Chamber will be sad to see her go as she takes up her new position on the African continent and thanked her for her hard work on behalf of all the BCC members. The British Chamber held 23 events attracting 1,400 attendees throughout 2015. While 2016 has started with oil prices at rock bottom and the forthcoming referendum on British membership of the EU, the chamber has a substantial programme of events planned with illustrious speakers including Nigel Farage, Viviane Reding and Luc Frieden.
