The British Chamber of Commerce has announced that it is organising an After-Work Legal Event on the topic "Pre-hire vetting from a data protection and employment law perspective" on Tuesday 27 September 2016 at 18:00 at Allen & Overy (33 Avenue J.F Kennedy, Kirchberg).

Internal recruiter, external agency, recruitment process outsourcing (RPO),... whatever solution a company opts for, as requirements on the job increase, recruitment processes become more sophisticated and expensive. Against that background, the company wants to operate verifications on the individual to make sure it gets the recruitment right. The efforts undertaken in that framework are commonly referred to as pre-hire vetting:

•Can the company contact the employee’s former university and employers to double-check the résumé?

•Can the company ask questions about the employee’s financial situation, the medical background or family planning?

•Can the company request a copy of the employee’s criminal record?

•What happens if a verification brings an issue to light? Can the contract be cancelled?

These and many more questions will be dealt with by the speakers Catherine Di Lorenzo and Gilles Dall’Agnol, both Counsels within Allen & Overy, who will analyse the topic of pre-hire vetting from a data protection and employment law point of view.

The evening will begin at 18:00 with registration. The presentations  are scheduled to begin at 18:15. To close the evening drinks and canapes will be provided and, as always, the opportunity to meet and discuss with your fellow Chamber Members and the panellists.

Cost: Members €20, non-members €40; to register, see www.bcc.lu.
