Luxembourg's Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, has announced a number of new appointments at diplomatic missions abroad.

The designated new heads of diplomatic missions abroad include:

- Mrs Arlette Conzemius, Ambassador to Brussels and Permanent Representative to NATO

- Jean-Jacques Welfring, Abbassador to Portugal (Lisbon) - currently Ambassador to Belgium (Brussels)

- Mrs Sylvie Lucas, Ambassador to the USA (Washington) - currently Ambassador to the United Nations

- Jean-Claude Knebeler, Ambassador to Russia (Moscow) - currently Consul General in New York

- Conrad Bruch, Ambassador to Poland (Warsaw)

- Georges Faber, Ambassador to Turkey (Ankara) - currently Ambassador to Poland

And the designated new Permanent Representatives include:

- Christian Braun, Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York - currently Permanent Representative to the European Union

- Georges Friden, Permanent Representative to the European Union -  currently deputy Permanent Representative to the European Union

- Mike Hentges, deputy Permanent Representative to the European Union

Other nominations include:

- Pierre Ferring, Director of Finances and Human Resources

- Jeanne Crauser, Consul General to New York

- Pierre Franck, Consul General to San Fransisco

The nominations are expected to take effect in September 2016, following their presentations to the countries councerned.
