Luxembourg Minister for Labour, Employment and Social and Solidarity Economy, Nicolas Schmit, and Minister for Equal Opportunities, Lydia Mutsch, will attend the informal meeting of the European Ministers of Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities on 19 and 20 July 2017 in Tallinn.

The informal meeting will entail discussions focusing on the question of private and professional life balance and equal opportunities. For the Luxembourg government, it is essential to emphasise the interdependence between these topics, while the issues of reconciliation between work and family life must be addressed both to women and men.

This informal meeting takes place within the framework of the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Besides attending the meeting, Nicolas Schmit will chair a meeting of Socialist and Social Democratic Labour and Social Affairs ministers in his capacity as chairman of the group of ministers of the PES, devoted to the proposal on the European Charter of Rights and the topics on the agenda of the informal meeting.
