After French Greenpeace activists trespassed, illegally entered and let off fireworks at the nuclear power plant in Cattenom on Thursday 12 October, the Luxembourg government has voiced their concerns over the level of security at the site.

Luxembourg government Ministers Lydia Mutsch (Health) and Carole Dieschbourg (Environment) are insisting on a detailed enquiry into the events that will bring to light security issues that urgently need to be addressed. They hope that it will be brought to the attention of Nicolas Hulot, the French minister of Ecological Transition and Solidarity, to be dealt with appropriately.

As these security inconsistencies are a serious issue, Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to call an emergency meeting for the French-Luxembourgish Commission of Nuclear Security.
