The Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) published the results of the peer review executed by the Development Commitee (CAD) in Paris on 19 October 2017; each member of the CAD undegoes a peer review every five years as a way to follow up their efforts, for them to examine the execution of their actions and to make recommendations to make progress.
The OECD commends the fact that Luxembourg is, after Norway, the most generous backer of the CAD, dedicating 1% of the gross national revenue to public aid and exceeding the international target of 0.7%. It is noted that 59% of Luxembourg's bilateral action is focused on sub-saharan Africa and 52% on less-developed countries. Around half of Luxembourg's bilateral public aid focuses on health, education and local development.
In 2016 Luxembourg contributed €353 million; the primary beneficiaries were Burkino Faso, Niger, Senegal, Laos, Mali, Nicaragua and Cabo Verde. Luxembourg also reinforced its humanitarian actions with their national and multilateral partners as well as their project www.emergency.lu
