Luxembourg's Minister for the Environment, Carole Dieschbourg, will participate in the Alliance of Regions' meeting on Monday 23 April 2018, for a Europe-wide nuclear phase-out in Mainz, Germany.

The Alliance has now 15 regions from Germany, Austria and Belgium as members; the alliance is also supported by Luxembourg.

As part of the conference, current nuclear issues and the opportunities offered by renewable energies will be discussed with experts. At this year's meeting, the security risks posed by the Cattenom nuclear power plant, the legal proceedings against Belgian nuclear power plants, the potential of renewable energies in the EU and the reform of the Euratom Treaty, are on the agenda.
