PM Bettel call Current Migration, Asylum System "Not Sustainable"

On Sunday 24 June 2018, Luxembourg's Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel, participated in an informal meeting on migration and asylum in Brussels.

The President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, had invited interested Heads of State and Government to participate in an informal working meeting on migration and asylum issues. In this context, Prime Minister Bettel stressed that as regards "the Dublin reform and all elements of the asylum package, we must act quickly because the current system is not sustainable in case of crises or mass arrivals".

He also recalled that "the EU is made of compromise and taken into consideration from the point of view of others".

The purpose of the meeting was to prepare the work of the European Council of 28-29 June 2018.
