Thomas Begbie of Luxembourg's Octans -A Spirited Bar has been selected to compete in the international finale of the Patrón Perfectionists cocktail competition to be held in Mexico in January 2019.

Six high-level bartenders from Belgium and Luxembourg clashed yesterday in Antwerp for a place in the international final of the cocktail competition. The winner was Thomas Begbie, from the Luxembourgish bar Octans -A Spirited Bar, with his cocktail "Coral & Coast", which combines the drought of South America with European humidity.

Patrón Perfectionists is an annual cocktail competition where the premium brand of tequila Patrón searches for the perfect tequila cocktail. The international finales of this competition are held annually at the Hacienda Patrón in Jalisco, Mexico. This year, no less than twenty bartenders from as many different countries and six continents will participate in the grand finale, with Thomas Begbie representing Luxembourg and Belgium.

Thomas Begbie grew up in Luxembourg where his parents, originally from Scotland, ran a sports club. From a very young age, he helped them in the dining room, the bar or the dives, thus instilling in him a passion for the events sector as well as the creative barman's profession. At the age of 18, Thomas Begbie went to London to train as a classical bartender and since then he has always worked as a bartender. Today, he works at the bar Octans, which is located in Luxembourg city-centre.
