Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Étienne Schneider, made a working visit to Moscow from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 February 2019, during which several meetings were held at political and economic levels.

As part of the preparations for the 12th session of the Joint Economic Cooperation Committee between the Belgo-Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU) and the Russian Federation, which will take place in Luxembourg during the first half of 2020, Deputy Prime Minister Schneider met the new Russian co-chair of the Joint Commission, Tatiana Golikova, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Social Policy of the Russian Federation.

In addition to issues related to the organisation of the next session, topics related to the strengthening of economic and trade relations between Russia and Luxembourg were discussed by ministers. The exchanges thus made it possible to take stock of the current situation of the bilateral commercial relations and the activities of Luxembourg companies in Russia and vice versa. The ministers expressed their willingness to exploit the potential for cooperation in the space sector, as well as in the field of innovation and support for start-ups.
