Luxembourg has become one of the signatories of the European Union's declaration on the future of disability policies.

On 14 March 2019, Luxembourg Minister for Family and Integration Corinne Cahen participated in an informal meeting on the future of disability policies after 2020, organised by the Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic and the French Secretary of State to the Prime Minister for Persons with Disabilities, in cooperation with the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the European Commission.

This meeting was an opportunity for the participants to discuss the future European Disability Strategy, but also to consider its practical implementation within the framework of the European Pillar of Social Rights. Beyond the EU ministers, representatives of the European Commission, experts from other international organisations and relevant NGOs were present.

As part of the meeting, Corinne Cahen, together with ministers from 25 EU countries, signed a declaration on the future of disability policies to reaffirm Luxembourg's commitment to equal opportunities and participation people with disabilities in all areas of life. In her speech, the minister called on other EU countries "to set up an appropriate European network to promote the development and dissemination of innovative communication strategies". 

Corinne Cahen also presented concrete projects that Luxembourg is putting in place in order to facilitate equality between all citizens, for example an evaluation and orientation course for people with disabilities or the robot developed by researchers at the University of Luxembourg that facilitates interaction with children with autism.
