Luxembourg’s Ministry of the Economy has reported that Prince Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg is presiding over a working visit to Lisbon, Portugal from Monday 13 to Wednesday 15 November 2023.

The Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, will lead the visit, which was organised with the support of the Luxembourg Embassy in Lisbon. This visit is mainly focused on the Web Summit, considered the largest global conference on digital technologies in Europe, with more than 70,000 participants expected.

The programme includes a visit to several stands including those of Portugal, Cabo Verde, Germany, EDP and SolarCleano as well as AICEP – the Agency for Investments and Foreign Trade of Portugal, during which the Minister of Economy will meet his president Filipe Santos Costa. The Hereditary Grand Duke will be received in audience with Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President Portugal, while Minister Fayot will participate in a panel discussion with Portugal’s Minister of the Economy, António Costa Silva, with the theme “New blueprints for technological growth”. Minister Fayot will also have a bilateral meeting with the latter, as well as with Artur Jordão, the director of the Europe Startup Nation Alliance (ESNA), which Luxembourg officially joined last June.

At the same time, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce is organising an accompanied visit for which around sixty participants, companies and institutions combined, are registered.

On the sidelines of the opening evening of the Web Summit, Minister Fayot is also invited to a dinner offered by the Government of Portugal at the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda. Finally, a networking reception, bringing together Luxembourg companies participating in the guided visit, is also on the programme.
