On Thursday, 5 October 2017, His Royal Highness the Grand Duke visited the printing works of Phil@poste, an entity of the La Poste France group, in charge of establishing the programme for the annual issue of postage stamps, visuals and stamp printing, located in Boulazac near Périgueux (France).
For 2017, POST Luxembourg commissioned the printing of the series "National Honour Decorations", consisting of three stamps, from Phil@poste. These include the Order of Civil and Military Merit of Adolphe de Nassau, the Order of the Oak Crown and the Order of Merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
These stamps are printed in four colours and are then embossed. These complicated techniques are now mastered only by a limited number of printing works, including Phil@poste.
During his visit, the Grand Duke was invited to observe the different stages of printing and finishing the three Luxembourg stamps.
The Grand Duke, accompanied by Claude Strasser, General Manager of POST Luxembourg, Emile Espen, Head of the Philatelic Department of POST Luxembourg, and Stéphane Bern, was received by Gilles Livchitz, Director of Philaposte.
