A trade mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) headed by His Royal Highness the Hereditary Grand Duke, accompanied by Her Royal Highness the Hereditary Grand Duchess, will be led by Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Étienne Schneider, from 9 to 12 October 2017.

The official delegation will also include Luxembourg's Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, François Bausch, with a business delegation accompanying them to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al-Khaimah. The purpose of the trade mission is to promote Luxembourg in the region and to strengthen political and economic relations between the two countries.

The programme includes working meetings with members of the royal family and the government. In all three cities, economic seminars will be organized by Luxembourg's Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with local partners. These seminars will present the Luxembourg economic environment to the Emirate business community.

Luxembourg maintains close bilateral relations with the UAE, as evidenced by the numerous visits and high-level contacts, both in the political and economic spheres. Numerous ministerial visits have taken place since 2005, many of them in the presence of HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke. Since 2000, economic relations between Luxembourg and the UAE have continued to grow gradually with occasional fluctuations.

Day 1: Tuesday 10 October 2017 will focus on collaboration on space exploration and possible collaboration between Emirates and Cargolux.

Day 2: Wednesday, 11 October 2017 will see a visit to the site of Expo 2020 and also a visit to a vessel belonging to the group Jan De Nul, a dredging company established in Luxembourg and particularly active in the UAE.

Day 3: Thursday, 12 October 2017 will focus on ministerial meetings and also a visit to RAK Porcelain (subsidiary of RAK Ceramics) established in Ras Al Khaimah; since 2006, RAK Porcelain Europe SA has been operating in Luxembourg and employs around 60 people.
