On Thursday 5 April 2018, an exhibition with photographs by Luxembourg resident Ludo Segers will open in Brussels; entitled "A Place, A Time, A Reason?", the exhibition features many photographs that were recently taken in Lithuania and are juxtaposed with photos made elsewhere in the world.

The exhibition on display in Gallery 74 (rue de Trèves 74, Brussels (corner Belliard)), one of the EU galleries in Brussels, is built around locations that may be on the opposite sides of the world, but have something in common: a visual element, a mood that brings them together across time and space.

Ludo Segers said “There is a reason why an image of a wall in bohemian Užupis is put next to one from Colonia, Uruguay”. He added "A photographer is always confronted by several difficult to control elements that can be translated in many different ways into a photograph. A place may remain but the presence of light and sky are never the same. When a dynamic element is added it may lead to questions arising about being there at that moment in time.”

Observers describe Ludo’s photography as a cross between narrative documentary and fine art, noting a high level of awareness that is required in photojournalism, yet punctuated with magical moments captured in between assignments.

Véronique Lejeune, who curated one of Ludo’s previous exhibitions said, “Is Ludo Segers a photographer or a philosopher? Probably both, as each photo has a subtle balance beyond what is accurate.”

There is also a book, entitled “A Place, A Time, A Reason?” with a more extensive collection of Ludo’s work.

The exhibition in Gallery 74 will open on 5 April at 12:00 and run until 14 May 2018.  Open 5 days a week from 09:00 to 18:00.

Proceeds will benefit the charity 'Armen Te Kort' (Shortage of Arms), a buddy system that assists reintegration in the workforce.
