During May 2018, City Savvy Luxembourg Magazine is launching its “Love Letters to Luxembourg” initiative which aims to celebrate life in Luxembourg and gives everyone who loves the country an opportunity to express their sentiment to this small treasure in the heart of Europe, full of inspiring symbols, beautiful landmarks and breathtaking nature.

“Love Letters to Luxembourg” will showcase the works of six local artists who will create unique artwork, painted on large pieces of wood in the shape of postcards. The freestanding murals will be found throughout the city centre of Luxembourg for everyone to enjoy. Every mural has a special theme – Symbols of Luxembourg, the Royal Family, Multiculturalism, Architecture of Kirchberg, the Wine Region. It will feature the works of Chiara Dahlem, Raphael Gindt, Michel Kremer, Stick, Joël Rollinger and Daniel Mac Lloyd.

Everyone has their own reasons to love Luxembourg, including the readers of City Savvy Luxembourg Magazine. As part of the “Love Letters to Luxembourg” project, postcards featuring the photos taken by CSL readers will be printed and distributed in Luxembourg. The printed visuals were selected in a competition with many participants. Ready as of mid-May, the postcards will be available at local businesses, schools and cultural institutions; people will have the chance to express their love and appreciation to Luxembourg by writing their personal message on the cards. The messages can then be dropped in the distinctive boxes for the Love Letters to Luxembourg found throughout the city.

To find all the murals and discover more about “Love Letters to Luxembourg”, City Savvy Luxembourg Magazine created a special map (which will be available across the city from mid-May). It will help everyone who wants to chase the hotspots in the city, take pictures and share their updates using the hashtag #loveletterslux. The whole idea is to share in the appreciation we experience living in Luxembourg.

The culmination of City Savvy Magazine’s project will be a final event at Cercle Cite on Friday 29 June. People who have not used the drop boxes will have the chance to put their postcard on display, alongside the others already collected by fixing it to the gallery wall. Visitors will have a chance to read the postcards (20K in total) of other participants in the project, growing their own appreciation of what an amazing place Luxembourg is.

www.citysavvyluxembourg.com now has a dedicated page for Love Letters to Luxembourg. It is full of information and details about the different stages of the initiative and will soon present all the artists involved. It will also act as a platform to display all the great messages on the postcards.

“Love Letters to Luxembourg” is a City Savvy Luxembourg project with support from the Ville de Luxembourg, the Ministère de l’Économie and the Ministère des Affaires étrangères et européennes, and has the support of Bernard-Massard, Philharmonie Luxembourg (Établissement public Salle de Concerts Grande-Duchesse Joséphine-Charlotte), Fischer, Cercle Cité, and Neumünster Abbey Cultural Exchange Center.
