Following the recent municipal elections in Luxembourg, the newly elected mayors and aldermen have been offered training and will officially be sworn in to their new posts tomorrow, Wednesday 8 November 2017. 

Tomorrow, the Minister of the Interior, Dan Kersch, will swear in the colleges of the mayor and aldermen of the municipalities of Beckerich, Lorentzweiler, Mamer, Mertert, Mondorf-les-Bains, Niederanven, Nommern, Pétange, Préizerdaul, Putscheid and Roeser. 

Furthermore, Minister Dan Kersch, and the President of the Union of Luxembourg Towns and Municipalities (Syvicol), Emile Eicher, have presented the training cycle for local elected officials, organised by the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) and Syvicol.

For his part, the president of Syvicol stressed the importance of such training along with the necessity to adapt to a new approach in the field of human resources management due to the implementation at municipal level of reforms in the civil service and the introduction of management by objectives.

The topics covered in the different training modules will deal with: communal legislation; municipal finances; staff; data protection; defence of municipal interests; planning and housing; social aspects; education; security in the Public Service; water and environment.

The speakers will be officials from the various competent administrations, as well as Syvicol collaborators and the mediator Claudia Monti.
