With Storm Eleanor continuing to batter western Europe, MeteoLux has issued a warning of strong winds forecast across the Grand Duchy on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon.

The Yellow Level warning is for Wednesday from 14:00 - 21:00 and for Thursday between 13:00 and 18:00, with gusts expected up to 85 km/h. Already, during last night, a number of trees were felled by the strong winds, requiring the emergency services to clear roads for traffic earlier this morning.

While the cold front passed over Luxembourg this morning, the air is currently "unstable". Rain showers could be heavy at times, with thunderstorms also possible.

The wind is expected to die down for Friday and Saturday, with Sunday and Monday expected to see gusts rising again to 65 km/h.
