Over the week-end, the River Moselle broke its banks with levels recorded at 80cm above the high water mark between Grevenmacher and Remich, leading to significant flooding in many places.

Earlier, river transport had been suspended due to the high water levels caused by weeks of rain.

While no injuries were reported as a result of the flooding, many premises - both commercial and private - suffered flooded cellars, and some vehicles left unattended were also affected. Many riverside paths, benches and tables were either wholly or partly underwater, while some streets in Remich were blocked off to road traffic due to the flooding.

Some more rain is expected on Wednesday, but the forecast for much of the rest of the week is for dry weather.
