A total of 121 applications for international protection were received in Luxembourg last month.

February 2018 saw the submission of 121 applications for asylum to the Luxembourg Department of Immigration. This represents a drop from the previous month’s intake of 175 as well as a significant decrease from the 236 applications recorded in February 2017. The number remains slightly higher, however, than the intake of 119 applications in February 2016.

The majority of the asylum applications last month came from people leaving Morocco (13), followed by Serbia (11), Tunisia (10), Afghanistan (10), Iraq (10) and Syria (10). One application was submitted by a Colombia-national, the only representative of the American continent among these figures.

The total number of applications for 2018 so far is 296.
