The Luxembourg Service for Research and Criminal Investigations (SREC) has managed to identify a group of criminals suspected of having carried out at least 86 burglaries in 2014-17.

After several months of intense investigation in close cooperation between the Public Prosecutor's Office/Investigation Office of Luxembourg and the Special Police Unit, the SREC Luxembourg-Organised Theft- body has found a group of perpetrators suspected of being responsible for at least 86 break-ins in single-family homes, restaurants, shops and businesses over the past four years. The men, who had spent a long time in Luxembourg, targeted safes, cash and other valuables and jewellery.

In November 2017, three of the perpetrators were arrested in the Ettelbrück area by officers of the special police units and the SREC Luxembourg after a series of night-time attacks.

Two other members of the group were arrested during an investigation on 14 March 2018 by order of the Investigation Office of Luxembourg. Another member is currently being sought across borders.

The investigation continues.
