Fatal accident near Vianden;

The Grand Ducal Police has reported that a 56 year-old motorcyclist died in an accident on Sunday afternoon on the CR322 near Vianden.
The accident happened shortly after 14:00 when a group of three motorcycles from Germany were travelling from Vianden; on a long right-hand corner near the SEO hydroelectric power station, the last motorcycle veered into the opposite side of the road and collided head-on with an oncoming car, the driver of which could not avoid colliding with the motorcyclist.
The 56-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in the impact. Despite intensive rescue measures, he died some time later at the scene of the accident. The other motorcyclists and the occupants of the car were comforted by representatives from the psychological trauma unit of the police.
The public prosecutor ordered a forensics examination be undertaken at the scene of the accident and for an investigation be launched into the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
