A total of 132 applications for international protection were received in Luxembourg last month.

March 2018 saw the submission of 132 applications for asylum to the Luxembourg Department of Immigration. This represents a slight increase from the previous month’s intake of 121 but is lower than the 175 applications received in January 2018 as well as from the 222 applications recorded in March 2018. The number remains slightly higher, however, than the intake of 103 applications in March 2016.

The majority of the asylum applications last month came from people leaving Kosovo (21), followed by Morocco (15), Syria (14) and Eritrea (11). Like last month, one application was submitted by a Colombia-national, the only representative of the American continent among these figures.

The total number of applications for 2018 so far is 428.
