Luxembourg's Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, Camille Gira, has died suddenly.
The Luxembourg government announced the news of the sudden and unexpected death of Luxembourg's Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, on the evening of Wednesday 16 May 2018.
"In his political mandates, whether at the municipal level or at the national level, Mr Gira has always shown exemplary dedication. He has also committed throughout his political career to the fundamental values of tolerance, solidarity and respect. In addition to this commitment, he has been a passionate spokesperson about his ecological beliefs, including the protection of natural resources and the environment," said Prime Minister and Minister of State, Xavier Bettel.
The Prime Minister presented, on behalf of the government, his sincere condolences to his wife and two sons and to his family and loved ones.
Camille Gira was born on 2 June 1958 in Luxembourg. He studied at the Athénée de Luxembourg and at the Lycée Robert Schuman from 1970 to 1977. Following the general election in 2013, he was appointed Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure on 4 December that year in the coalition government between the Democratic Party (DP), the Luxembourg Socialist Workers Party ( LSAP) and the Greens ("déi gréng").
