The Luxembourg Government and the CGFP trade union have come to an agreement regarding a public sector pay deal.

The government, represented by Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform Dan Kersch, and the CFGP, represented by its President Romain Wolff and Secretary-General Steve Heiliger, have finalised the agreement of 5 December 2016 on public sector salaries.

In this context, the government will work towards proposing a bill in December this year, to come into effect as of 1 January 2019. The bill will set the duration of internships at two years with the possibilitiy of reducing this to one year maximum, as well as the abolition of reduced salaries for interns introduced in 2015. 

Furthermore, the allocation of money for meals has been increased to €60 net per month, coming into force on 1 January 2019.

From that date on, the government will engage in negotiations with trade union associations affiliated to the CGFP so as to rediscuss the legal points relating to these reforms. 

The agreement will end on 31 December 2020.
