Luxembourg's Ministry of Health has confirmed multiple cases of norovirus at Cinqfontaines.

Following an episode on Tuesday 7 August 2018 in a holiday camp at Cinqfontaines, which affected a total of 41 children and 16 adults, the Health Inspectorate has confirmed that the rapid spread of norovirus is at the origin of the gastroenteritis.

At present, all children and their caregivers are doing well. They were followed medically and the Health Inspectorate followed up (collection of stools and examination of drinking water) and reviews of food samples were conducted by Food Security authorities. The samples were tested by the National Health Laboratory (LNS).

Norovirus is transmitted only from person to person. It is a highly contagious virus that spreads quickly but does not pose a serious risk to a generally healthy person.

Nevertheless, the course of the disease is often virulent.
