On Friday 17 August 2018, the emergency services had to rescue the driver of a truck who had been trapped in his cab after colliding with a bridge and toppling over onto its side.

The accident happened shortly before 10:00 on the N6 between Bertrange and Mamer, and involved one truck colliding with the blue bridge that crosses the N6 road towards the European School II.

The driver was taken to hospital after being freed from the wreckage. The tunnel had to be closed as the job of the crane carried by the truck protruded across the tunnel roadway after the collision. As a result, the N6 towards Bertrange was closed to all traffic which meant a diversion via Kopstal and Bridel was in operation for a number of hours during the rescue and subsequent clean-up operation.
