The number of jobseekers in Luxembourg has decreased by 5.8% or 942 people over one year.

This drop in July 2018, which mainly affected jobseekers under the age of 30 (-11.4%) and low-skilled workers (-7.7%), has brought the unemployment rate to 5.5%.

In addition, the number of long-term unemployed jobseekers fell by 4.7%, as did the number of jobseekers possessing the status of disabled employee or employee with reduced work capacity, which is down 5.8% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the number of beneficiaries of an employment benefit was 4,791 as of 31 July 2018. Over one year, this represents a drop of 315 persons, or 6.2%.

Finally, in July 2018, employers declared 3,612 vacant positions at ADEM, ie 707 positions or 24.3% more than in July 2017. The most frequently sought trades were accounting (143 positions declared), computer development (143), secretarial (102), front office of financial markets (100) and kitchen staff (97).
