The Summer of 2018 in Luxembourg was much warmer and far too dry compared to the long-term average, according to LIST's weather bulletin.

The bulletin, developed by LIST, ASTA and MeteoLux, showed that this past Summer was characterised in all three months by very warm and dry weather.

In the first half of June there was an increased thunderstorm risk with local torrential rains, but then the summer weather arrived. Likewise, July was mostly warm and dry air reached the country from the east, whilst the beginning of August continued to be dominated by high pressure. Towards the second half of August, a cold front led to heavy rainfall, storm gusts and hail. Temperatures dropped in the last days of the month , bringing this year's Summer to a rather cool and damp end.

Nevertheless, the mean temperatures of the season at the evaluated ASTA and MeteoLux stations exceeded those of the comparative period 2001- 2010. The slightest deviation was 0.4°C recorded in Oberkorn (ASTA), while the highest deviation was registered as 2.2°C at the Findel station (MeteoLux). For Remich (ASTA), July 2018 was the second-warmest since the year 2001 with a monthly mean of 21.8°C after July 2006. The absolute maximum air temperature recorded was at 37.3°C on 7 August at the Echternach Station (ASTA).

All in all, July 2018 was the second-warmest July since records began at Findel in 1947.
