Today marked the inauguration of the Courthouse in Diekirch, a renovation project costing €9,900,000.

On 19 September 2018, Luxembourg Minister of Justice Félix Braz and Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure Claude Turmes attended the inauguration of the Courthouse on Place Guillaume (Kluuster), Diekirch.

Built between 1850 and 1852, the Courthouse was renovated and expanded between May 2015 and September 2018. This work allowed the building to comply with current standards, increase the floor space by building an additional volume at the back of the building for a second courtroom and offices, spatially separating the court from the parquet and finally making the building accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Claude Turmes pointed out that particular care has been given to the energy concept: "From this precise point of view, the new construction fulfills the conditions of an energy class B. With regard to the existing and transformed parts, an improvement of the building envelope was achieved by installing thermal insulation at the roof level and replacing old windows with new insulating windows that reduce energy loss."
