The number of jobseekers in Luxembourg has decreased by 5.1% or 803 people over one year.

As of 31 August 2018, the number of available resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 14,936. Over one year, this represents a fall of 803 people or 5.1%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC is thus 5.5%.

The drop especially affected jobseekers under 30 (-8.1%) and low-skilled job seekers (-6.8%). The number of long-term unemployed fell by 6.7%, as did the number of jobseekers possessing the status of disabled employee or employee with reduced work capacity, which is down 6.5% year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the number of beneficiaries of an employment benefit was 4,584 by the end of August 2018, which represents a decrease of 288 people or 5.9% over one year. 

Finally, in August 2018, employers reported 2,617 vacant positions at ADEM, ie 15 posts or 0.6% more than in August 2017. The most frequently sought-after jobs were computing studies and computer development (127 declared positions), accounting (96), secretarial (89), front office of financial markets (88) and kitchen staff (82).
