On Friday 23 November, the A7 motorway was closed to traffic travelling in both directions between Merscherberg and Colmar-Berg for two hours because of the presence of wild boars on the road near Rouscht.
The State Roads Authority has pointed out that while its services erects fences along motorways, there is no obligation to do so. "These installations are therefore performed on a voluntary basis, which, in general, avoids accidents."
Their statements went on to include "Such fences are also not dimensioned to constitute a dam for hunts organised by private individuals. It should be noted that for hunts, no road permit is required and that the Administration des ponts et chaussées therefore has no means to impose on the organisers conditions for the game to be intruded on motorways".
