The Grand Ducal Police have announced that, between October and January, chosen because those months are normally conducive to burglaries due to long night-times, the change of time or reduced visibility, they are traditionally very active in the fight against burglaries with an additional presence in the field (using both visible and unmarked patrol vehicles), prevention efforts and public awareness through the media and social media.

In addition to numerous smaller mobile patrols and various controls (fixed posts, sightings, etc.), the Grand Ducal Police conducted circa 140 regional controls, from October 2018 to January 2019.

During these months, the Grand Ducal Police still recorded a total of 558 burglaries in inhabited houses (against 498 in 2017/2018) as well as 157 attempts (against 192 in 2017/2018).

Nevertheless, the Grand Ducal Police were able to arrest 34 alleged perpetrators who were in the act during this four-month period. In addition, another 30 people were identified during subsequent investigative work (DNA analyses, etc.).
