Prime Minister Xavier Bettel;

Following the tragic incident this morning at Luxembourg army's ammunition depot in Waldhof, Prime Minister and Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, the Government Information and Press Service issued a statement stating that he has been deeply touched by the deaths of two members of the Luxembourg army.

Prime Minister Bettel, currently on a working visit to Madrid, said he was appalled "I was deeply shocked to hear the news of this tragic event. Two Luxembourgish non-commissioned officers died while carrying out their duties in the service of the country. Two of their comrades were wounded, one seriously. My thoughts are with the victims, their families and their loved ones. The government shares their suffering and stands with them at this difficult moment. This event reminds us in a brutal way of the dangers to which our soldiers are exposed on a daily basis as part of their missions in defence of our country. Their commitment deserves the deepest respect of our entire society."

On behalf of the government, the Prime Minister extended his sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
