On Friday 15 February 2019, the day after two junior officers of the Luxembourg Army died in a tragic accident at the army's ammunition depot in Waldhof, and two more were seriously injured, the country's government observed a minute of silence before their cabinet meeting.

In the comping days, the Army will organise a farewell ceremony at the Military Centre in Diekirch in memory of the deceased officers, before the funerals which will be held with full military honours.

Subsequently, at the Military Centre in Diekirch, the Luxembourg's government will unveil a commemorative plaque in memory of the two army officer who died in the line of duty.

Earlier in the day, HRH the Grand Duke received François Bausch, Luxembourg's Minister of Defence, and Army General Alain Duschène, in audience. They informed him of the state of health of the two wounded junior army officers as well as the circumstances of the accident. Later the afternoon, HRH the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess went, together with the Minister of Defence and General Duschène to hospital, to the bedside of one of the two wounded army officers.
