A total of 182 applications for international protection were received in Luxembourg last month.

February 2019 saw the submission of 182 applications for asylum to the Luxembourg Department of Immigration. On the one hand, this represents a decrease compared to the number of applications received in January (226) 2019. On the other hand, it represents an increase from the 121 applications received in February 2018.

The majority of the asylum applications last month came from people leaving Eritrea (57), followed by Syria (21) and Iraq (15). Applications came mainly from the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa with just two originating in America (one from Venezuela and one from Peru).

The total number of applications so far this year is 408.
