Both Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and his son, Prince Sébastien, are celebrating their birthdays on Tuesday 16 April 2024.

Grand Duke Henri, Prince of Nassau, Prince of Bourbon-Parma, turned 69 on Tuesday. Born on 16 April 1955 at Betzdorf Castle in Luxembourg, he is the eldest son of the late Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte.

On 4 February 1981, the then Hereditary Grand Duke Henri married Maria Teresa Mestre, with whom he has five children. He became Head of State (Grand Duke) of Luxembourg upon his father's abdication on 7 October 2000.

To mark the celebrations this year, the Maison du Grand-Duc has shared two photos of Grand Duke Henri and King Philippe of the Belgians (who turned 64 on Monday 15 April 2024) celebrating their birthdays together. The Grand Duke of Luxembourg is currently in Brussels for an official state visit.

Tuesday also marked the 32nd birthday of Grand Duke Henri's youngest child, Prince Sébastien, who was born on 16 April 1992 at the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg.
