The European Air Ambulance (EAA) Division of Luxembourg Air Rescue (LAR) has received an international award for best air ambulance services in 2016 at the International Travel & Health Journal’s conference in Berlin.

Last week, LAR were named the best ambulance service provider in the world at the global ITIJ in Berlin. The award is given to organisations which have made a significant contribution to the lives of patients in the past 12 months.

Four internationally renowned air ambulance service providers were chosen as finalists for the award out of all operating air ambulances in the world. The finalists were: Amref (Africa), Reva (USA), Sky Service (Canada) and EAA (Luxembourg), the latter of which later won in the final jury evaluation.

With 165 employees and over 28 years’ experience with rescue helicopters and repatriation with ambulance jets, LAR always works to improve its services to its customers, members and patients.

One of the main reasons the Luxembourgish air ambulance was chosen as the winner of the award was the fact that it is the first air ambulance to have an infectious disease module, for cases such as Ebola, and the only to have certified weight transportation stretchers.
