On Monday 11 December 2017, the Fondation de Luxembourg in collaboration with the Fonds culturel national presented a summary of the grants created by the Fondation Michelle.

Over four years of support, over 100 classical music talents have benefited from this initiative, which contributes to a real dynamic for youth and the arts in Luxembourg.

Since 2014, the Fondation Michelle, created by a German philanthropist passionate about classical music and opera, has supported 122 young musicians including two musicologists and three composers. These scholarships allowed them to take part in international competitions, train with renowned musicians, give more concerts or, for composers, create a new work.

The objective of the scholarship programme is to encourage the creation and development by allowing young musicians to have the necessary resources to create and perform various activities related to their artistic process.

These scholarships have an amount ranging from €1,000 to €8,500. The 2018 scholarships will be awarded upon submission of an application to the Fonds culturel national, which will work together with its partners to screen the candidates.
