On Sunday 1 July 2018, in the presence of a large number of visitors, Fernand Etgen, Luxembourg's Minister of Agriculture, Viticulture and Consumer Protection, presented the "Jury Prize" of the "Bio-Agrar-Präis" for organic farming initiatives to "Naturata Resto & Cafe" in Munsbach; the "Public Prize" of the "Bio-Agrar-Präis" was awarded to "Casa Fabiana" of Luxembourg-City.

In his speech, Minister Etgen paid tribute to Naturata's efforts to offer certified organic food and beverages to their customers in their restaurants and cafeterias.

In addition, Minister Etgen honoured the initiative of Mrs. Fabiana Bartolozzi to open an organic restaurant in the station area in Luxembourg City.
This year, and for the second time, the award included a "Public Prize" in addition to the usual "Jury Prize". In order to choose the winner of the "Jury Prize", a jury, composed of ten members from different backgrounds, analysed the various application files. The winner of the "Public Prize" was selected by the public during the Agricultural Fair in Ettelbruck.

The "Bio-Agrar-Präis", awarded for the first time in 2009, aims to reward merits in organic farming. This award, with a prize of €4,000, is intended for individuals, organisations and companies active in the organic farming sector (production, processing, trade, research, NGOs, ...) or having given special support to organic farming in Luxembourg.

The award is part of the National Action Plan for the Promotion of Organic Agriculture, which aims to actively support the development of organic farming in Luxembourg. The funding of various research projects as well as the network of demonstration farms are other actions of the current year.
