Last Saturday 29 September 2018, the Luxembourg Swimming Federation (FLNS) honoured its most successful athletes for their achievements in the past season.

A total of 74 awards were given to the best athletes in swimming, water jumping, water polo, synchronised swimming, open water swimming and masters. In addition to the prizes for athletes, the FLNS awarded special prizes, such as the honorary prize of FLNS' main sponsor SEO which went to Monique Olivier for her national record of 2:01.87 at the Irish Open in Dublin in the 200m freestyle and Raphael Stacchiotti for his time of 2:01.30 in the 200m medley at the Military World Cup in December 2017 in Rio de Janeiro.

Moreover, Guy Radoux was awarded the "Louis Deny" special prize and David Wecker was presented the "Henri Kaudé" Cup by Pascale Schmoetten, President of the Special Olympics Luxembourg. Celia Goergen (1m and 3m), Lucile Cabot (tower) and Thierry Pohu (1m, 3m and tower for men) also won prizes for diving, whilst the synchronised swimming trophies went to Lena Kelsen and Davina Ribeiro as well as a team composed of Charlotte Citton, Liana Fevrier, Cloé Delgado and Nina Verrinder for their performances at the Synchro Cup on 4-6 May this year.

This year's waterpolo players from CN Diekrich won the national and interregional championship and triple cup; the team consisted of Pir, Pol Castiglia, Andy Derneden, Benoit Grosch, Gerry Hoffmann, Wim Horsmann, Gašper Kalan, Guy Lambert, Gilles Muller, Kyoko Nishikawa, Luca Raponi, Richard Rudner, Gaétan Sejalon, Steven Spielmann and Ivan Yasimov, under their coach Bernard Pollak. Winning the best open water swimmers of the year were Luxembourg champions in the 5km races, Felix Beckers (1:07.03) and Mara Krombach (1:12.05), who were honoured at the Luxembourg Swimming Open Water Challenge on 14 July in Lultzhausen.

Similarly, Carole Kettenmeyer-Reuland, Achille Sinner and Stephanie Schaeffer won the best "Master athletes of the year." Carole Kettenmeyer-Reuland set six new country records in the age group 40 at the European Championships in Kranj, Slovenia in the 200m chest with a time of 3:00.89 and won silver. Meanwhile, the "Official of the year" went to Dan Schmit and Jelena Milanvoska for their engagement at the edge of the pool in over 20 competitions in Luxembourg and finally, the award "Volunteer of the year" went to Luc Muller for his volunteer work as an expert in timekeeping, data processing and licensing of the FLNS and its member clubs.
