On Tuesday 7 May 2024, the Kinepolis Group confirmed it won the 2024 CineEurope “Milestone Award”, awarded in recognition of its outstanding achievements in showing European cinema.

The award will be presented as part of the “CineEurope Awards Ceremony” on Thursday 20 June at the Centro de Convenciones Internacional de Barcelona (CCIB) in Barcelona, Spain.

Kinepolis, led by its CEO Eddy Duquenne, had record results in 2023. Compared to 2022, turnover increased by 21.1% to €605.5 million, and EBITDAL increased by 32.8% to reach €151.4 million. Its net profit thus reportedly doubled to €56.1 million.

This strong revenue generation is due to a 20.6% increase in visitor numbers compared to 2022, as well as an increase in sales per visitor, a result Kinepolis noted was due to “substantial investments in premium cinema concepts and various experiences”.

The CineEurope Milestone Award recognises Kinepolis' efforts to provide quality experiences for filmgoers and rewards its achievements over the past 25 years.

Phil Clapp, President of the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), representing cinema exhibitors across 39 European territories, commented on the announcement of the award: "We are delighted to see Kinepolis honoured at CineEurope 2024. This award recognises the ability of the company to attract a wide range of audiences to the big screen while maintaining unwavering confidence in the future of the industry. On behalf of the UNIC Board of Directors and colleagues across the board industry, I would like to congratulate Kinepolis on this wonderful achievement."

Andrew Sunshine, Chairman of Film Expo Group, added: “CineEurope is delighted to recognise our friends Joost Bert, Eddy Duquenne and the entire Kinepolis team for their remarkable achievements and expansion in the industry.
